For this brief my client is the NHS ,national health service, and I will be working to further their Better Health campaign, with the aim to promote better physical health in young people ages 16-20. The Better Health campaign focuses on a few different areas of health; smoking cessation, eating healthy, exercise and reducing alcohol consumption.
This interpretation of the brief will follow the NHS campaign on better health and will feature my interpretation of my mind on health and fitness. In this brief I will be focusing on the exercise aspect of the health as that is an aspect that I have a great interest in as well as it being one of the best motivations to life as a whole. The main reason that people should exercise is because it means that it can largely impact the health of a person, if they include dietary aspects such as a caloric deficit if the person is trying to lose some fat while gaining muscle mass or a caloric surplus if they are trying to gain mass as a whole.
Body Dysmorphia: The mental illness of body dysmorphia is a mental block on the mind which blocks the person from seeing themselves as they really are, instead seeing themselves as lesser then they actually are. This mental illness mainly presents itself in young ages of which is due to the large social media presence which pollutes the mind of the youth as we are the most gullible generation that is heavily influenced by others. This is a mental illness that needs to be recognised more as it is one of the main reasons of depression and anxiety within this generation which unfortunately leads to large amounts of suicides each year. With the health campaign on the better health of the younger generation we also need to include mental health into account as the overall health is the biggest priority of the NHS as this then costs them less. Here in the United Kingdom, the limited data we have suggests current estimates are that 0.5 of the population have body dysmorphia, from children and young people to older adults, which equates to 5 out of every 1000 people. That is some 308,960 people based on the 2009 population estimate.
